The most simple ways to identify if WWHRS is present
Waste water heat recovery (WWHRS) is not normally immediately visible when installed in a property, it is typically hidden away out of sight, and therefore if you are looking to ascertain if a property has WWHRS installed here are some indicators to look out for.
Firstly, all systems should have the completed SAP identifier label showing both product and system type installed. This label needs to be applied in a visibly assessable location near to the water heater of the property.
However, if this label isn’t visible here are a few other things to look for.
- Pre heated pipework should have been identified using our Preheat supply tape on all installation. This pipework would be most likely to be found on the feed to the shower and/or the water heater.
- Where our most widely used product the vertical Pipe HEX has been installed a slightly extended internal SVP boxing will most likely be used to box the unit. This boxing would likely be around 400x200mm and would be most likely found under the primary showering outlet.
- Another of our commonly installed products would be the Easyfit+. This is a horizontal unit that would most likely be located in the void under the bath and should be found by removing the bath panel.
- Our newest product in the range is the HeatDeck, this is an integrated shower tray with WWHRS exchanger inside. It is easily recognisable as it has a liftable access panel on the tray bed.
- If no unit can be found, then another sign of WWHRS would be the cold side of the shower valve warming after 1-2mins of standard showering. Turn on the shower hold the cold side connections and see if you can feel an increase in temperature on this side.
