Is there a Legionella risk?

What to be aware of regarding Legionella

All our WWHRS products and all SAP-listed installation methods are independently Legionella Control Risk Assessed and deemed ‘lowest possible risk’ when installed as per our installation guide.

The areas to be aware of are:

  1. The WWHRS units must not be installed in an area of high ambient heat (e.g. A plant room or near a direct heat source);
  2. The WWHRS unit should not be insulated and allowed to cool as quickly as possible after use (our only heat source is the waste shower water, so once this is turned off, the heat source drains from the unit);
  3. The length of pipework from the WWHRS unit to the cold side of the thermostatic shower mixer should be no greater than 4.75m in 15mm.

A WWHRS system installed as per installation instructions should present no extra risk over that which is normally present, with standard showering hardware. As such any Legionella mitigation measures or practices that apply to showers (without WWHRS fitted) should be followed where WWHRS is fitted. You can view our full Legionella guidance here
